it refers to almost a continous line of rain/showers, like a frontal line....but not quite...i.e more organised than just descret showers that are independent from each other....
thats the way i intepret it ;) 8)

i fondly remember Bob Mcdavitt on the National Radio program saying:

Not much movement in our temps over the past couple of days. Down to 14C last night, up to 16C today, mostly overcast.

great for grass growth for the farmers.....(soil temperature has come up alot (now 11.5, has been down to 8oC)....will need to mow the lawns!

The 'organised bands of showers' has been a favourite line of the Met Service for years. I guess an organised band of showers represents a front or convergence zone as opposed to air mass popcorn type stuff. Looking at tonights sat pic, it all looks fairly weak in the Tassie. By in large we have had a stable winter this year. Early indications are for a settled spring.

mum reports a good thunderstorm right overhead in Waiuku at 4:30am this morning :)

had trouble myself today...and i knew it could be a potential problem....rain ran down a cable into the ISS
just got it fixed up, but had visitors when i first noticed it...typical!

Some small towering Cu around this afternoon, mild, sunny here 18C dewpoint 13C.

Can still see fog and mist down the Airport way.

No wind here.. those T/Cu are going nicely, partly cloudy.
