if the low can slide enough down the coast line tomorrow, we might get a classic NNW shift from the NE here, with the frontal passage....

off topic, the classic hits announcer repeated the spam email about the planet mars looking at big as the moon in the night sky on the 27th august.....i cant believe people believe that sort of rubbish,...especialy as you cant see it now.....it was actualy at its closet point to earth many months ago now...

Looks like a spell of solid rain for Canterbury from late tomorrow to early Tuesday. GFS seems to have the worse case scenario, with a prolonged period of heavy rain in the east of the South Island, the southerlies persisting through much of the week. 8-[ But such outlooks have been suggested on previous occasions over the last few years and in the end haven't delivered weather as bad as the models had predicted.

MetService has issued a moderate risk of heavy rain for Canterbury on Monday and Tuesday, but Blue Skies hasn't updated its long-range forecast for Canterbury today, at least on the ATS site.

Its showing now, there was an html error in the file. However, looks like I'm going to have to update it in the light of the 0Z model run.

Sorry if it's been said already - severe weather warning for Northland at the mo.. I just drove home from Auckland and it took me 5 hours instead of 3 due to flooding/rain etc..

Rain getting pretty heavy here in the waitakere's now...rain radar looking like a very wet night ahead, with a second front to follow tomorrow apparently. The hatches are battened.....

The latest LAPS run looks quite hazardous for the Eastern BoP on Monday.. could see 24 hour totals being recorded in the excess of 140mm in places like Rotorua, Whakatane if it pans out.

4.4mm so far.. mainly light.. looks like it's becoming moderate to heavy over Kaipara Harbour.. behind the warm front's clearance zone.

Heaviest rain of this system should fall tonight in western areas.

NZstorm wrote:Ridge should ensure the low passes to our west Michael. Classic warm front conditions today, cold and wet. Should see much milder weather tomorrow as the warm front passes through. I notice the dewpoint at Norfolk Island 18C.
Looks like warm front is thru over Cape Reinga.. 16/16 there now. Looks like we will see those sort of DP's tomorrow.

Quikscat satellite showing nicely the wind and rain during overnight and into the morning! :D

Will be waiting for when our rain starts late tomorrow afternoon but otherwise I enjoyed today when the sun came out at about lunchtime.
Good time to get out in the garden get a few things done.
I see the snow storm book of the 12th June from the Press is out in book shops now will have to lay hands on it with money next time I drop by. 8)
This Low will be one to watch major concern will be farmers on the high country of Canterbury when the flow tends more strong cold southerly on Monday.
I have warnings out on my site too.
Cheers
Jason.

shame the brywnderwyn site has data problems.....the barometer has been playing up (rainwise 2000 station)..might be a battery level problem...and i think when its ready to low,the software is then ignoring the data...
