Unread post by jrj »

Computer models from Weather Online indicate a possible cyclone from Wednesday through Friday affecting the East Coast NI.

Could be interesting.

It's only mid October! I remember Cyclone Fergus about New Years Eve 1996, but I've never heard of an ex tropical cyclone affecting NZ any earlier. Have there been any earlier cyclones hitting NZ?

I remember that Xmas it rained in Auckland then it was followed by Drena and then some "mickeymouse cyclone" (I didnt reckon it was a cyclone like the previous 2) which only brought warmth and humidity without much wind or rain ;)

It is a bit odd to get a tropical low coming down in October.

Yes I saw that in the models the other day and thought "UH OH"
Cyclone season starting rather early.
With lows forming up there or in sub tropical regions means the anticyclones will track over NZ resulting in boring fine weather. :(
