The overnight lows are almost if not as cold as June was 3Â°c this morning,Unbelievable condensation too.The papers portray them to be higher than what they are

About -3 here and condensation avalanches rattling down the windows.

Surprisingly last night was the coldest night I recorded all year. Being up in the hills in Dunedin I hadn't dipped into the minus yet until last night. Previously my min was 0.0Â°, last night was -1.3Â°.

Quite a dry frost I thought today... if you know what I mean

I would agree with Phil....todays frost although not as white as some was nasty. Ice on the lagoon....ice on the road where water ran across.
Under the eaves of my house 2 metres above the ground I recorded a temp of -2.3.

There is quite a bit of variation across Auckland, here it only dropped to 5.4Â°C and probably warmer still in some areas

Temperature was 7C here (Archhill, Grey Lynn) at 7am this morning. Yes, there is a big variation around Auckland. Auckland CBD is generaly about 5C warmer at night than the outer suburbs. Urban heat island affect.
