A few more brief showers from late last evening to early this morning, but sun is shining right now. Let's hope any more showers are 'isolated' like MetService forecasts say they should be.

Clear and crisp (8C) this morning in Auckland. Looks like we are in for a couple of days without much cloud.

The trough in the far western Tasman Sea generated several severe thunderstorms over NSW yesterday with hail stones upto 4cm reported from western Sydney. Not unusual for NSW in late spring.

There was a light dusting of snow on Banks Peninsula hills above about 700 metres early this morning, but otherwise no visible shower activity in the Akaroa area today, though clouds have darkened on occasion in the distance (mostly to the east). Still partly cloudy as I write..

It hasn't turned out any warmer today than yesterday, not out here on Banks Peninsula, nor probably throughout the rest of the eastern South Island. 10C maximums in Dunedin and Oamaru are pretty low for late October, except in the middle of a southerly outbreak (which we're supposed be out of by now).[/quote]
