Spring frosts

Unread post by tich »

Already down to 3C with clear skies and little wind in Chch this evening. Monday and Tuesday both started with frosts (out on BP as well as Chch), so I guess horticulturalists are on alert around here and in several other parts of NZ. (MetService has put out a warning for them) Well at least we should be getting several mild sunny days from tomorrow.

There have been several in the last few days. Its still early for most growers, so only unusually heavy frosts would be of concern at present. Its frosts later in October or November which cause the problems, ie the late frosts.

Some big frosts in Hawke's Bay this morning, helicopters took to air and wind turbines were turned on according to a ZB report.
