1 second gap for one of our strikes. Really loud. Most over this way were CC strikes

well it was certainly severe here. I thought it was the end of the world coming...not surprised to hear report of tornado down road in Ranui, about 5 km from here. I've never heard such loud thunder and the rain has caused carnage...sirens still everywhere at mo.

And they say more to come tonight and tomorrow? Hell!

stunning piccies spwill!

yes we have just been up to the waitaks to see the deluge, my first thought was cloud burst due to the debris, but you guys reckon it lasted for 2 hours so it couldn't have been that.

We saw rocks up to 100mm dia picked up in road drains and moved 20 m or so, crazy volumes of water!

possibly more to come too, there is some more darkness to the NW here

:P :P :P :D :P :D

Anyone know the email address of their news editors / copy writers?
Graeme wrote to TVNZ on their contact page wrote: "Mini tornado" - there is no such thing. A tornado either exists or it doesn't. They come in sizes from F0 through to F5. All are classed as a tornado. There is no mini size. Please stop using the term "mini tornado"!

Cheers,

On a brighter note - it's got quite dark to the north-east, looks like more heavy weather rolling in quickly.
