Metvuw has a 10am image for Wellington. We have quite thick drizzle here at Amberley, but its not showing on the radar.

Yep sweeping in accross the central city as I speak....looks like quite a squall line coming in from the west

EDIT and a clearance arriving now to blue sky arriving with distant CB's evident behind the waitakeres. Now that might just allow some of that afternoon heating / convergence for the next wave of showers????

Has remained overcast and cool here,14c, a few showers, 4mm since 9am.

Looks like any thundery weather has been off our West Coast out to sea.

There's been quite a misuse on here of the term 'squall line' over the last few days.

Is that a criticism of my above post?

It came through from the west as a distinct brief line of heavy rain accompanied by stong winds and rapidly cleared afterwards. Sounds like a squall line to me.

whats your defnintion foggy?

A big local lightning bolt last few minutes.

Hail size was about 8mm.

Rainfall 18mm last hour, that takes our total to over 100mm since rain started yesterday.
