Avoiding Power and farming crisis

Its about time north of the bombay hills are used for power generation ie filling up manmade lakes and dairy farming due to the ample rain and possibly even wind generation with the often gale force winds experienced up here especially the SWers that blow 2/3rds of the year constantly.

There is a power station at Takanini, South Auckland that runs on deisel.

i think wind generation is a very good idea !
they have been investigating it on this coastline, SW of auckland city...
its not so much the straight out strength they are after, but the persistance over a threshold (8m/s, 15 knots or so)
The wind on the coastal hills here averages around 15 to 19 knots (yearly basis).
Wellingtons best site is 25 knots or so average!
now thats windy (long term average!)

I don't have km run data which would be interesting but the following
