Lowest Maximum: 15.4 °C (Monday 16 October)
Minimum Temperature: 3.9 °C (Tuesday 10 October)
Highest Minimum: 14.6°C (Saturday 21 October)
Total Rainfall: 246.5 mm
Days with rain: 14 out of 31 days
Most rain: 47.0 mm (Sunday 01 October)
Highest pressure: 1028 mb (Wednesday 18 October)
Lowest pressure: 1003 mb (Monday 23 October)

Rainfall year to date: 1169.1 mm

Cold wet especially the 1st two days with Southwesterlies all but 2 days till the 20th then somewhat better weather after that with Labour day not too bad except the Monday it rained and finally having 2 or 3 days finally hitting 20°

NIWA report for October:

Of interest - Ch'ch by far the sunniest of the main centres, Dunedin driest. Wellington temps. so far below average that it was the coolest of the "5 main" centres. Also very wet there, very cloudy, and the number of strong gust days was a near-record. All in all, one of the worst months I have ever experienced here. Back on the brighter side, Tekapo, Dunedin and Invercargill among others had a lot more sunshine than usual.

My October summary for Hillmorton. Temperature and rain records got back to 2000 and wind to 2001.

Temperature:
A mean temperature of 11.8C, this October was the warmest I've recorded
The warmest day was the 13th with 28.4C, it was also the warmest October day I've recorded.
Coldest temperature was 1.6C on the 10th. The coldest October temperature I've recorded is -1.6C on 6th Oct 2003 with a frost following a southerly.

Wind:
The monthly wind run of 6960km is the highest for October I have recorded with wind records from 2001. The second windiest was October 2001 with a wind run of 5801km.
It is the second windiest month I've recorded to date with November 2002 just beating it by a few km with 6978km.
Prevailing wind direction was north east recorded 37% of the month, south 33%, north 14%, south west 5%, west 5%, nor'west 4%, east and south east was about 1%. Maximum gust was 61km/h from the nor'west on the 19th.

Rainfall:
The wettest October I've recorded with 120mm of rain. The previous record was Oct 2001 with 117.2mm.
The driest was October 2004 with 35.8mm.

Barometer:
The highest pressure for the month was recorded on the 18th with 1026.1 hPa, the lowest 989.8 hPa on the 29th. This is the lowest barometer reading since the 16th June this year when 986.1 hPa was recorded.
