Birdsville has had no rain at all since mid-July (that means zero, not an exaggeration of "low"). The temperature there reached 48.5C on 30 Nov, just short of the record 48.7.

Yes, its a very hot, dry and dusty town right in the outback (of far-western QLD that is). I wouldnt want to live there - hot, hot and hot with no rain - I coudnt handle that LOL. The locals are quite friendly and very talkitive, but a "redneck" attitude prevails. Birdsville is totally surrounded by red dust, green is a virtually unknown colour there except in very "wet years" - which doesnt happen very often.
