Quite a summery scene for sure with some nice CU going up inland and one nice cell too with a nice anvil.
Few strikes on tracker not sure wether it's coming from this wee cell though.
Took a drive just down the road to get some pics before so will post up later still cool to watch.
Cheers
Jason.

Yes interesting indeed Jason! Look's like the cb started firing inland from Oxford and moving NE. Can see it nicely on the sat image, and rain radar.

Can see an isolated shower to the N-NW so perhaps a splash for Tony soon
.
Took another drive out not long after my previous post as it had developed even better but by the time i got to a good spot it didn't look as good still was there though
.
Looks like a few strikes came from this cell perhaps more on the plains though.
Cheers
Jason.

Just a splash here, looks to be well NW of here, I would guess over Hanmer area. No thunder or lightening I can hear or see, but it is a black cloud.

Some of the clouds looked very icy on the tops

Yes Andrew same here looking very unstable out there at the moment with some towering CU and not even cold it's 16.7C here.
Thunder could be on the cards we will see
certainly some large drops though.
Cheers
Jason.

ha Christchurch have just had some very decent falls
extremly heavy rain here before, almost like a tropical rain shower
id say a moderate chance for thunder this arvo.

If you compare this month (90.6 mm) to December last year (18.4 mm) thats a big difference!!
