Possible thunderstorms Canty 27th and 29th Dec!!!
There might be a slight chance tomorrow provided there is enough daytime heating after early morning rain from the west of which there should be in most places. However it is NW so not overly confident but perhaps some localised areas further south and on BP might get something.
Friday looks to be the pick for me a cold S-SW change in the evening with showers could be thundery along the windchange.
But we will see thought it was worth while putting a post up wether it does or not Touch wood .
Cheers
Jason.

Have had some rain this morning 2.4mm and mild on 19C at the moment too.
Looks like the sunshine will appear in about an hour so temperature should rocket up and I can finally enjoy the summer sun .
Could be a storm south of Ashburton this afternoon wind is currently light NE but could turn NW later.
Cheers

Pity im not down there!!
Im currently sittin in an internet cafe in Moteuka waiting for my mates to arrive from ChCh. I came up Xmas day, good day to drive as no traffic, Spent last 2 days in Waira Valley, very hot days and im burnt! lol
We could get a couple storms possibly over the next few days esp Sat, and then maybe after that.

Once again some nice forms of CU went up today along the plains and to the W-SW but unfortunatly didn't get too far before dissiapating.
Tomorrow should be an interesting day possibly our first best chance in awhile now but I say no more .
Maybe the helmet could come in Handy tony .
Cheers

yES jase the helmet may come in handy by my calculations
Seems as though a very cold band is moving up north tomorrow and with summer heat will hopefully form storms tomorrow afternoon with hail but we shell see
As of today there was some really good CU around but once again didnt come too much.
Id say tomorrow will most likely be the last chance too get a storm for this year so lets cross our fingers and pray

Here is hoping for an interesting day ahead although the wind is currently a breezy SW but only as far south as Ashburton so should die away soon.
Latest from MS below with a high risk in mid to south canterbury also tiny bit of precipitation in that area already .
Touch wood .
Cheers

Just saw the longest lightning bolt SW of her. Boy it's dark. Not really moving North and any great speed.
There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.

Hmmm...things seem to be growing right on top of CHCH!...it is quite interesting to watch from my vantage point at work...you can see the warm west/northwest flow coming in from inland, but at the same time the wind has just shifted Easterly/Northeasterly and you can now see the low level clouds coming in from the ocean....thoughts anyone?
