Morning clouds

Yesterday morning I saw these clouds as I as walking out the door to go to work. While I've seen these clouds before, I've never seen them in any books... so I mentally call them 'Smoke clouds'

Within 20 minutes there was a fairly solid layer of Strato-cumulus in place.

Anyone know what these are called? Or even if they have a name... maybe some Sc forming or something...

We get those a lot when its ready to cloud over and rain soon follows

Stratocumulus there.
I would say there is some gentle turbulence(oregraphic) that is stirring a very moist and stable layer of air.

I see the stratocumulus charging in over Auckland this evening. I am picking this to burn off to give a brighter afternoon but returning at night.

they almost look like what is called kelvin waves (is that right?)....which usualy occur with the approach of a cold front/rain, but yeah, its just some forming/whispy stratocumulus

melbourne got a lot of rain, and looks like more to come

maybe that whole indian ocean surge will make it as far as us?

Sometimes see that cloud here.

Its the leading edge of a Stratocumulus Sheet being pushed in by a developing South Westerly .

I seen those most mornings in the wet season here when its been clear overnight then the cloud like above moves in,thickens to 8/8 then rains
