I emailed Jim Salinger about the mention of 'snow on the Port Hills on the night of the 27th' on November's report, as though I remembered that night as cold and wet in Chch, I seriously doubt whether it would've got cold enough for snow on the Port Hills. (which must be an extremely unusual occurence for late November) The reply (from Stuart Burgess) claimed that NIWA had got the report from a news reporter in Chch, but that they were now (following my email) planning an ammendment to the November Climate Summary.

That night snow fell to 500m in central otago and there was snow on the pigroot.

Frost followed this and thre was some damage to horticultre crops from that cold snap.
