The cloud has cleared this morning in central Chch, and it looks like it could get really warm (already about 18C). The humid air from up north is supposed to reach us here, but it doesn't feel muggy yet. (it's all relative though - what's muggy to us wouldn't be noticeable to Aucklanders) I guess the airflow is more north than northeast here - critical for Chch, as it often means the difference between a cool onshore wind bringing low cloud (northeasterly), and a warm, sunny day. (northerly)

On my way from Dunners to Chch at lunchtime for the weekend. Just need some good weather for Saturday though and it looks like a hot one.
I wish it was for a Storm Chasing trip, but it looks like I'll need the sunscreen instead

There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.

I saw the good clouds to the north around lunchtime building. Later on around 2 pm I headed south to visit a friend in Middlemore and could admire a very nice looking Cb in my rear view mirror while I was on the motorway
After the hospital visit, I had a quick look to the south (nice tops!) and headed north through the motorway slog home. Thought I may have got hammered by the Cb over the city as it looked very dark and the potential for lots of rain... got hardly any... Maybe another Cb to my north here at home, but can't see for sure with some low cloud in the way.
