Unread post by 03Stormchaser »

I have noticed many of you mention a "Lightning strikes chart"
I have had a search on the net with little success. Could some please inform me of the website. Thanks

its a shame we cant get stuff like that , i.e if it was govt funded, like you can in good ol usa (they have heaps of data available from NOAA...rain radars that overlap to give complete coverage even!

Yes I noticed that to Steven, even though it has been quite clear that thunderstorms have been in the Hawkes Bay area and in Invercargill yesterday morning I can't see any little yellow crosses in those areas, oh well.....

On those recent Storm Hunter Doco's, those guys had laptops and stuff with up to date weather info, do you think they pay for that service or is it free, also, is the same type of info available here in NZ, if so I'm guessing you'd have to pay for it but is it available?

Cheers

They had one on the weather online site, but it's disappeared. :(
It was a detector @ the Otago University

Thats the URL for the Otago University lightning monitoring.
But I have found it to be a bit useless. ;)

The Met Service lightning chart has been updated. It looks very interesting.
