Rain and storms for the North again, 28th - 3rd May

Unread post by Razor »

Has been another dry spell here, by and large, since the big event almost a month ago.

Looks like thats about to end with lows coming in from the north again....

It's reached over 24° here now.. I had to go outside and verify it!
light N breeze over the suburban landscape will do it I guess

Yep looking like some decent rain alright over the next week or so

That's about 10C warmer than Chch is now. We're expecting some drizle and/or rain, but only the slightest drizzle so far. Pretty dull day though.

WHATTT?? :o Only up to 16.5°C today here; but we also had a fair bit of violent drizzle in the mix. :) Though the models were heading for a balmy 21C :(

These twinned lows that are on it's way looks interesting.. i'd say the risk of thunderstorms at this stage for Saturday is looking moderate Hamilton northwards mainly in the east with the humid northeasterlies giving way to a NW wind. Early days with the 2nd low.. GFS 00z is very reluctant bringing the low through up with a cold change over NZ while the LAPS model is all go for it at this stage.

Though good to see so much moisture is on the way... hopefully some thunderstorms too with it by Tuesday! :)

Cheers
Foggy (starving for action weather, foggy mornings can go away  )

Yes after some light rain overnight and this morning it turned to more dizmal drizzle but rain should return by morning abit more persistant.
Looks like perhaps some decent falls coming up early next week interesting though how often do we get E-NE moist flows feeding off a low at this time of the year :? it's usually more getting into breif cold southerly surges but apart from the one a few weeks ago it has been rather quiet for april.
Cheers

Pukaki & Tekapo are going down quite quickly now too.
I think it's these two Lake's that provide us with most of our power and they look fine.

Nice to hear that rain on the roof overnight. :D 17C Dp15C, a warm morning here.
