Fine, sunny day in Chch. Temperatures similar to Dunedin rather than Alexandra, thanks to a freshening northeasterly.

BTW I had a weird dream last night which involved a thunderstorm (not in Chch), where cloud-ground strikes repeatedly hit the same spot. Woke up thinking - that's not how a real thunderstorm works. (well you wouldn't want your house to be in such a spot if such a thunderstorm did actually happen)

I quite often have thunderstorm dreams.
I think I may have experienced more thunderstorm experiences whilst asleep than awake !! ;)

I often had dreams of it being fine and summery and then wakeup to an orange sky(the lights of the city shining off the low stratus cloud racing against the black backdrop) with the wind blowing the rain about. ;)

As for the weather today its fine at present but looks likely for SW gales in the afternoon like the 1999/2000 year was like that a lot but dry with Sc at times between the lower pressure due to the heat in the BOP and here

yup, michael, yesterday was just too cloud free, and so a few clouds today
Swer just picked up here now, but the clouds are not moving much, so the wind wont get up very high, less than yesterday i would think

Then you wake up and realise the sky is clear or only containing innocuous clouds. You turn on the radio and the forecast is for weather that completely rules out the possibility of thunderstorm activity.

There was enough blue sky to go around yesterday that Mum would have said "there was enough to make a whole Sailor's suit"

The wind is fairly gusty here this afternoon and windier than yesterday or maybe our exposed direction

Patches of high cloud in Chch this evening, but more clear sky than cloud. There's been a rise in the barometer and a weak southerly change (according to Jeff's Online Hillmorton Station), but I can't overstress the word 'weak'.

Yes an interesting stratocumulus layer at sunset moving very slowly north with the southerly.
It would of looked good with a time-lapse camera. :)
