Cold air never made it this far north. Currently 12.5°C at 6:30am saturday morning. But it has been persistantly windy
this tasman low should eventualy bring drought breaking rain to the NI east coast? (although it will be too late for good grass growth recovery now that the soil temperature has probabl dropped with frosts in the Hawkes bay last week (still 13°C soil temperature here though)
(sorry, off topic)

Absolutely false, according to current conditions and the forecasts. We'll leave you Auks. (and other exposed places) to get the showers in the NI this week!
Even tomorrow's rain has been downgraded to possible showers at this stage.
If it all goes wrong, probably only a shower or two is the worst outcome for tonight I reckon. Otherwise, handling conditions should be pretty good for the time of the year.

isn't this a little off topic on this particular thread?RWood wrote:I'm well aware of that. I'm just booting it back because it's a silly generalisation. On quite a lot of the the evidence of the last decade, one could equally well say "Auckland plus rugby test = regular showers"
fantastic day here in Christchurch today, just a light S blowing this afternoon, with a few clouds about.
Some of the cold air from down south has certainly come up this way just without the snow and hail
Should be a frosty one tonight.
