At the moment the temp is 5.9C and the baro is sitting quite high on 1002, that should drop tonight as the front comes in.Gary Roberts wrote:It's looking like you're going to get it if anybody is.tornadoman18 wrote:Snow too low levels now expected in Christchurch tomorrow!

A bit of localised variation between your site and gopolks, but the baro is spot on. Rwood or TonyT reckoned that snow will fall up to 4.5 °C, if I recall correctly, so not too far to drop.tornadoman18 wrote:At the moment the temp is 5.9C and the baro is sitting quite high on 1002, that should drop tonight as the front comes in.

Fingers crossed you get enough snow to have fun but not enough for it to cause problems!

I think it's abit warmer than 5C outside at the moment I think gopolks would be more on target .
Scatterd clouds moving in from the south now and the moon is dissapearing.
I think if any snow showers fall to sea level it will likly be at night when the Temperature drops, however I recall back in March this year we had sleet falling from a CU line under 5-6C temperatures at the time. But I believe the windchill was extremly cold so was possibly colder to a certain elevation at low levels.
Cheers
Jason.

Looked interesting on TV1 when the changing weather map had the cold front (which should bring the icy outbreak) moving northwestwards within the southwesterly flow. The airflow then looks like coming from Antarctica, so very cold. The North Island seems to have escaped very cold weather up to now (snow only down to Desert Road last night), but the next few days should be bitter, with snow to unusually low levels in the south and east, even if not heavy.

Ohh i see must be rather isolated areas under colder air or there is more of a southerly blowing there.
I have been watching those updated rain radars in the last few hours and looks like some ok showers moving in just off the coast instead of away from us like in a more W-SW flow.
Cheers

Hmmm... both sound good then! I'll let you know next time we're down.. Be good to catch up!Gary Roberts wrote:Heh, nah...that's Earth & Sky. I think E&S dropped the price of the tour a wee while ago. It was pretty steep, no doubt about it, although a damn interesting tour nonetheless. They're putting more than 20,000 people a year through their operation, not including the cafe up there. (They do the best ham sandwiches, and the hot chocolate is superb too!)
