clear blue skies in Gore blardy freezing should be a ripper tonight if it stays like this.

It came onto snow here in West Melton, just after midnight and after I had just switched the computer off and was going off to bed. Light stuff but enough to settle and cover the ground white here.
White patches here this morning in the fields but gradually going away. Another sleety shower here about 9:30am.

Travelling from Chch to Akaroa this morning, there were light dustings to very low levels around Motukarara and in Little River, only above about 300-400m around Akaroa Harbour. A light rain shower near Taitapu about 10.30am.

Well in Addington we got nothing, And i was asleep until 11 am so that didn't help too see much if there was any snow this morning :lol:
bEAUT day now though in Canterbury.
Its going too be one heck of a frost and very cold tonight i say -4

over and out!

Frosty out here now. Should get down to minus 14°C by wintry frost standards for this time of year.

Already -4.5 lots of accidents around the city because of the ice and frozen snow.

Great frost. Coldest morning here with -5.0C since 1st June 2002 when I recorded -6.2C.
The coldest temperature I recorded since running my weather station was on the 3rd July 2001 with -6.9C

I see the airport is reporting -6 at 8am.

Don't know what the minimum was, but was doing an Ambulance shift last night, at 8pm it was -3 at Chch Airport. Was -4 when I got up at 8am today. :|

More snow last night 35mm in places Outram, Wingatui the hill suburbs.
5th fall of snow for the DUNEDIN area this year.

Yep huge dumping of snow in canterbury on tuesday. It will snow heavy cause that's the day I go to aussie. Always the way ;)

Gee some of you are an optimisitic bucnh.

Its not going to happen!

The best you can hope for is that the sun breaks through the anticyclonic gloom that is settling over ChCh as I type.
