Re: SG new Page
I'd love to know the camera and setup used for the webcam - excellent quality for both day and night shots!

Re: SG new Page
It's mostly a cosmetic tidy-up after almost 5 years ! I've also finally started uploading more photos to the gallery and will add new albums for storms, clouds, etc, in the next few weeks/months.
The main addition that will interest weather watchers is the higher quality visible light satellite image which is updated at least twice a day.
The webcam is a Canon Powershot G3 digital camera I bought on Trademe. It includes an AC adapter so I spliced the DC cable to extend it and used 3x5m active USB cables for the PC connection.
The software is my own PSWebCam application which sets the exposure and ISO settings based on the "local" time of day e.g. at night it switches to 15s, f2 at ISO400. It actually controls the camera functions through another program called PSRemote from Breeze Systems (http://www.breezesys.co.uk/PSRemote/index.htm).
