Noticed of late the Sunday Star Times has a "mickey mouse" weather section now.The only thing better about it is the "Trivia" apart from that the synoptic chart is absent and todays South Island detail.
What is the South Island version like?

Yes, I came across a 2nd hand copy of the SundayStar Times and I looked at the weather page which seems to be a South Island version of the North Island one you described. Nothing at all about the North Island, no synoptic map either.
