Thunder on a warm front! Quite an active front too looking at the radar.
Upper air is cold though.

getting closer and closer the lightning too me
my Boltec is doing a great job of tracking the CB in this system
maybe its where the cold and warm fronts convergem, i.e the center of a new wave depression under the jet stream?
NE winds picking up here, very low cloud and heavy rain and dark and stormy with lightning and thunder
love it, great birthday pressy!

The Thunderstorms have moved south this morn with the Front catching the coastal fringe.

Overcaste here and 16C. Dewpoints are 14C, that is moist air for August. :D

The forecast snow level of 700m for Canterbury for this weekend is a bit of a suprise. Is there a mesoscale cooling effect going on there?

I was expecting good snow on the SI ski fields from this system but not as low as 700m.

Moderate to heavy falls of rain coming down at times here filling up those creeks even more, could be abit of a concern if it keeps up.
6C with a light easterly, it does have that feel as if there is an inland advective snow going to occur.
Wouldnt surprise me if the snow level dropped tonight to say 400m :-k .
Cheers

Been wet wet wet here today (30mm)... and it's just started to get a bit windy. Suprising very warm for this time of day, 14.4C... warm front is through. :)

Active Cb cloud brewing in the SC Tasman, risks of thunder over the next few days in areas exposed to the west. :)
