Sth Waikato - Thunder and lightening moving away - 3 hours later looking to the SW...

However, there was more on the way... mild the second time, the centre was perhaps 20kms away.

CBs scatterred around today already! And sunny, 13C temps and moist air. Looking good for some thunder later at the moment :)

Heavy shower here 20mins ago, 3.5mm and a little bit of surface water.
Yes those clouds really are growing fast, but the temp is a bit lower today. only 13C here.
why's it so cold? I though it was going to be warm today so more storms would develop.

Yes into cooler air 14C currently but dewpoints still holding up 11C . Some nice Cu/Cb clouds around.
Also Cb clouds bring cooler air to the surface David.

We need the sun to come back out! That will really help with this afternoon's storm development.
Gone dim here again now, and started spitting

Lets hope that southerly holds off, or if it does come in, make a grand convective entrance :)

Just for Andrew...
Looks to be drifting eastward.
Must also be some action weather on the west coast, judging by Brian's weather station. :)

A big bank of clouds moving over from the NW - can see the start of them in my webcam pic here...

http://www.inmanavenue.com/webcam.html

The pic looks great today, it can focus on sharply defined clouds - it hates overcast conditions and hunts in and out of focus :(

It would be nice to have rotation on this and view the North angle as well ... hmmm 41South might help with this idea.

Anvil cloud and some rain killing most local convection just now.
Can see nice Cb build ups way out to the SE.

Sun has come out here, and a few dark clouds about, but I think most activity might happen south of us today :(

There is some action, looks like NW of hamilton..
yes that cloud has certainly slowed things down here though some good clear sky to my west now, I thought the early surface southerly change may have stuffed things up a bit but hasn't dropped the dew point at all, still ~ 12° winds lighter SW now..

Don't lose hope Aucklanders!
I am currently experiencing some convergence at my place - the wind was NE then WSW and now back to NNE.
And the sun is peeking through, temps up from 12 to 15.

Some nice Blow ups in our south sky, lightning tracker looks busy from that direction. May build into South Auckland.
