Re: Unstable over NI 22nd-27th
Looks to be a line of thunderstoms developing between Waitakere and Mercer.

Re: Unstable over NI 22nd-27th
Noticed the TS watch has been updated by Paul, -which is a GREAT addition by the way!!
Watch: Issued by MetService at 3:12 pm Monday 24 Sep 2007
Valid until 8:00 pm Monday 24 Sep 2007
This watch affects people in the following weather forecast districts:
Auckland, Waikato, Waitomo,
Radar and satellite pictures show thunderstorms are re-developing over Waikato
and also about the Kaipara Harbour. Also a line of wind convergence has
developed running from the Hamilton area, up through Auckland City to east of
the Kaipara Harbour.
A few severe thunderstorms are likely to develop in the these areas, especially
along the wind convergence line in the next hour or so and then die away in the
early evening hours.
Local rainfall rates in the 20 to 30mm/hr and large hail to 20mm are possible.
These rainfall rates can produce flash flooding and cause slips.
Issued by: Paul Mallinson
This watch will be updated by: 06:00 pm Monday 24 September 2007

I saw about 30 or so forks, one from Blockhouse bay rd which just jumped from the north shore into the city as if it were nothing. The rest I saw from mt Albert. Quite close Awesome crazy stuff

Re: Unstable over NI 22nd-27th
Metservice were expecting some heavy storms with big hail.
In my opinion it was not a very good storm at all. Not a huge deal of thunder and lightning and pretty much no hail and only 6mm rain.
Damn these isolated thunderstorms, I am sick of others getting the best and us having the scraps.
One day we will have an isolated thunderstorm here and it will be great and it will feel good that no one else got it.
According to metservice chances should be great again tomorrow so maybe something good will happen.

And I was just going to say that it seems like it was a good day in Auckland!
Now you know what it feels like, down here.
That hail looked pretty awesome, though.
