I don't think you do. On checking those Octobers:

2001 - warmest on record, rainfall near normal.
2002 - very cold, but sunniest on record, rain 20% below normal
2003 - slightly cooler, rain 20% above normal
2004 - temps average, rainfall average
2005 - rainfall 100% up, but temps up 0.7C
2006 - temps near average, rainfall 100% up

but how the average minimum be 11.3C for October? I'd expect that in November
November is 13.2C but these numbers are for the City, will lower as you move away from the water.

unfortunately I do not yet have long term records for here but here are some for past two years:
2005 - Oct average minimum 10.4C, Nov average minimum 10.4C
2006 - Oct average minimum 9.5C, Nov average minimum 11.6C

And as RWood helpfully pointed out the last two Octobers have been near average to above average.
This surely must mean that it obviously is colder at night here overall.

Still, doesn't stop the summer nights with minimums of 18-21C occuring - something to not look forward to. :(

Looking like possible thunderstorms this afternoon, evening and tonight and also for these periods tomorrow as well :)
Possibly strong wind gusts and small hail.

Michael - those numbers I quoted were from a well-established Auckland site.
