Sunday should be a cold day in Auckland with temps struggling to top 13C I think.

How do you figure that?NZstorm wrote:Sunday should be a cold day in Auckland with temps struggling to top 13C I think.
Forecast for 17C tomorrow, and the nights and days have been warm recently 10-12 about the minimum and around 18 as the maximum.

Sunny periods increasing in Ch'ch - the sort of day that is cool in the wind but hot in a car.

Some further rain showers on BP earlier this afternoon, but starting to clear now. Looks like (according to radar), that the showers in coastal Canterbury were confined to just BP today.

Re: Stable weather to end October
The ENE wind has freshened here up to 25km/h and now light spit. Been cloudy since 3.30pm when it was supposed to be mostly fine and the convergence of our wind against the SW in other areas has obviously created a shower, I can see the rain shaft to the WSW of here.

Yes a convergence line has formed, SW against the SE over warm land I think.

Re: Stable weather to end October
Can see what looks like a moderate to heavy shower towards the general direction of the city, the rain beneath the base has created a dramatic pink on the lower horizon where the sun set briefly. Hard to tell where its going, mass cloud movement looks to be heading our way, and the grey is getting closer too, but when I look more closely some clouds seem to sliding from the east. We'll have to wait and see where it goes. Really this breezy easterly which caused the convergence came out of nowhere.spwill wrote:Heavy shower here currently

A convergence line was expected to form from Auckland down through Waikato and it did. Shouldn't have been a surprise, showers were in the forecast today.David wrote:The ENE wind has freshened here up to 25km/h and now light spit. Re: Stable weather to end October
Well not according to the Auckland page. In the local page "Fine apart from some overnight showers north of Hamilton", the shower part wasn't mentioned earlier in the day, when people needed to know to plan outdoor activities or similar.
Its hard to tell which way it is going when the radar doesn't update, its was spitty earlier which is more lightish rain developing recently - maybe moving east then?

Re: Stable weather to end October
Driving from Auckland to Hamilton was interesting this afternoon. South of the bombays alot of cloud with some dark bottoms to them and north of the bombays hardly a cloud in the sky.
This afternoon in Hamilton it started to get quite dark but didnt have what it took to get past a few spits, but now just getting a heavy shower.

Re: Stable weather to end October
Quite a decent 4.6mm here in Grey Lynn so far,
the shower line is moving slowly west North of the city and has remained pretty much stationary south of here but has expanded a bit and light here now

Re: Stable weather to end October
The forecast I heard on the radio this morning was for a few late showers, so Met Service was correct, though wetter than was suggested. Some very heavy bursts over my place this evening and still raining.

Few showers this evening from 8pm with a welcome 3.2mm thru the gauge yes Jaime... did start to get quite dark this late afternoon from all the developing cumulus about.

Re: Stable weather to end October
15mm recorded at Rickys overnight. An 'easterly surge' is a good name for it Brian. Cb tops were only about 3500m, half sized cb's but they chucked the rain out. I'm wondering whether we are going to shake this anticyclonic gloom today (overcast Stratocumulus). Light shower here atm. I think we may need to wait untill Monday before we get back to the blue dome skies. Then it looks like a fantastic run of fine weather.

Re: Stable weather to end October
Does anyone know when Auckland might be getting some rain again? The stupid council has just planted hundereds of beautiful native trees near us and they are all starting to droop. They should have planted them months ago when you are supposed to

You can plant shrubs/trees any time of the year providing they are not bare root.
looking mostly dry for atleast the next week once we shake off these current showers.
