Subtropic low, 11th - 15th Nov

Unread post by Willoughby »

Well, looks as if finally we're about to see some activity bear down on us from the north probably bringing a lot of cool easterly rain.

Still a lot of uncertainty in the global models but no doubt it'll probably slide down that eastern Northland-BoP corridor.

"Monday: North Island, rain, sometimes heavy in Northland and Auckland, spreading south and reaching most areas north of Mount Ruapehu" (metservice) :)

"there is a moderate risk of significant rainfall for Northland during Monday and early Tuesday, together with possible severe easterly gales. There is also a lower risk that heavy rain could spread down to Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, western Bay of Plenty and Gisborne later on Monday, although this is more likely during Tuesday. Severe easterly gales are also possible in some of these areas during this time, most especially about northern Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula and in Waikato just west of the Kaimai Ranges." (metservice) :D

Bring on some action weather!

Both of the weatherzone models pretty much dismiss this low crossing NZ and predict it veering of to the east...but then again Metservice are closer to home, and usually they are quite good at predicting when subtropical lows will affect NZ, and seem to do well with warnings for Northland. We'll just have to wait to see if MS change their tune over this whole matter. I wouldn't be surprised!

Still signs of it affecting NZ, but I don't believe the wet and windy forecast on Monday followed by fine weather the next day. Anyway now MS think will it will pretty much do nothing, so they shouldn't be so ridiculous in the first place and get people's hopes up
