Rain radar looks interesting at the mo ;) and the cloud formations on this warm front are really impressive from here.

I think we may even get some rain

Do you think its more likely for east Auckland to get more rain than the west in this system?

Definately, should be light rain around Whangaparoa peninsula by now.

Main area of rain has broken up considerably in the last hour so it'll probably be just drizzly crap but ya never know

Yes, enough rain here to water the dry garden. :) I notice there was a thunderstorm in the far north this morning but the thunderstorm risk has gone now.

Looks like a shot of colder polar air may move up the east coast early week. Its timing suggests thunderstorms/hail will occur over the eastern North Island Tuesday afternoon.

Well I can hardly complain with 11mm if you guys got less, but to tell the truth I would have thought there would have been more like 20mm but nonetheless, its good for the gardens in the short term. Typical how the rain areas have now broken into two. Looking like the next lot of decent rain may be around the 30th, but we'll have to wait.

Only 5mm here...

850 temps rising to 14.5C over inland North Island tomorrow afternoon with clear skies and a gentle southwesterly flow.. :D

Perhaps up to 27C here, 28C in Rotorua/Tauranga and a slight chance of cracking 30C in Kawerau, subject to high temperatures in warm southwest flows.

Auckland's southwester will become gusty though, partly due to the squeezing from the developing heat low out east; max of 23 there.

I hate it when the Waikato heat low puts a SW across Auckland. it can ruin a summers day for us Aucks

This ECMRF chart for next Friday looks a bit strange. A no weather day for NZ ;)

The pressures aren't that high either so a good chance for thunderstorms in Canterbury. :)
The Ruapuna tornado of 199?, have to ask Bob on when this occurred, or consult my weather diaries, occured when there was 'no weather' over NZ, when a few cells popped up over Canterbury, due to heating :)

The latest ECMWF for Friday shows a wee shallow low hindering off Fjordland so that could trigger some thunderstorm activity depending on atmos conditions at the time. :)

The NewZealand Golf Open is on near Arrowtown later in the week, looks like they will have rain there on Thursday hopefully clearing out by friday.

The breezy sunny southwesters that AK is experiencing can really suck the mositure out of the ground. The benefit of yesterdays rainfall will disappear real quick.

Tuesdays cold change now looks like staying over the SI and looks a mediocre set up for isolated afternoon thunder/hail in Canterbury at best.

The rain/cooler weather timed for Queenstown thursday won't suit the NZ open.

Yeah I was just looking at that, up to 35.1. Pretty damn hot for November definitely.

Jeff's station just hit 30 as well.

I'll warrant you won't find a record of 35.1C anywhere in NZ in the NIWA records. I can recall 92.8F for Ashburton in Nov. 1958, and I think there's a similar value been recorded at Hastings, possibly 1949.

Currently on 29.8C here phew this is the hottest November day ive experienced in my memories 8) .
A wee purple blotch is showing up near the Penninslua port hills side cant see it from here but must be some towering over that way.
Who knows what this change could bring its got a trough inbehnind it.
SW change is currently hitting Timaru.
WZ shows a possible CB in south canterbury too.
Cheers
Jason.
