Merry Christmas. Its getting dark here, looks promising. Have heard a couple of rumbles of thunder.

dont be speaking too soon David a nice storm has developed just south of chch and i can see the flashes down south right now. tracker looking good! :D

Looks to be a storm between Timaru and Ashburton currently :) , and some rather darkish forms of CU in fading evening sky.

Interesting to look at the obs from Christchurch airport last night, 11pm dewpoint was 13C but this had dropped to 5C by midnight due to the onset of a fohn wind.

yes and as i thought, a thunderstorm fired up South of chch could se the cb being lit up down there, unfortunately it died b3fore getting here.
So was quite mild then, but also that SW air hitting the moist NE we had during the day started things up aswel
