You can find some interesting weather info there, what happened over 100 years ago. I found some brief daily weather stats for Dunedin during 1895. For one week in June, the temperature rose to just above 40F at its warmest and one day it only reached 33F, with precipitation (presumably snow). Station was in Opoho, maybe more than 100m asl, but such temps would be well below what is normal now.
