New Year's Day Weather

Unread post by David »

Was looking alright, latest weatherzone GFS now predicts a vigorous low to move in from the NW. Looks like one with potential for some heavy weather at the moment, but may change. Wouldn't mind if it could hold off until after 1 Jan.
Charts in order: 30 Dec then 31 Dec then 1 Jan.

Looking like a dry spell for us now. The Xmas day rain looks like being the last decent drop for a while with high pressure dominating for the next week by the looks.

If that low eventuates now it is not looking to affect NZ until at least the 5th of January, due to a stubborn anticyclone.
Nice sunny weather here this morning, after 18mm here over the previous 2 days. Hopefully it stays sunny for a few days (without the strong southwest to spoil it!)

Looks like New Years Day will be a good one on ECMWF but the rest of the period both sides of it as dry Galey weather

Warmest day so far this December (and therefore Summer) here, up to a high of 24.4C, which only marginally surpasses the previous highest of 24.1C on the 8th and 12th. NW breezes tended W. Looking like a few warmer days ahead now that the brief period of SW winds is gone.

Expected to be fine here for NYE & D :D , looks like a week of dry weather coming up with nice temperatures (23oC-24oC).
