Atleast rain actually fell up there, nothing eventuated here overnight or this morning still dry as a bone.
Also the 1.6mm that fell yesterday would have dried up under the early 20's today.
La nina coming on ay we shall see, maybe a few ex tropical cyclones for the North Island .
Cheers
Jason.

Arthurs Pass readings are taken at the Arthurs Pass village. 4km up the road is the main divide, some 300m approx higher in altitude, and the rainfall is closer to 10,000mm up thereRWood wrote:Interesting - the Arthurs Pass records from NIWA show a 30-year average of 4559 mm, which is still a pretty high value. Altitude 738m from memory. Would that altitude be higher than the village? I suspect not, so the value 4km further up the road would be even higher if that's the case.

This may be of interest to you RWood:
While looking at rainfall stats (http://www.trc.govt.nz/environment+onli ... totals.pdf) from Taranaki Regional Council's site, the North Egmont site is quite interesting.
One calender month nearly matches the NZ record rain of 2927mm at Cropp River - 2800mm rain fell at North Egmont in October 1998, after 1030mm in September and 1878mm in July!!
(over 6200mm rain in 4 months that year).
So it seems the famous Cropp River and Colliers Creek have some competition!

Every bit helps as it'll further wet the ground & with more rain forecast for Brisbane today and tomorrow, will further push up the dam levels (hopefully), Brisbane mates have said they're loving it and certainly not complaining about it at allDavid wrote:I see Brisbane recorded 34mm in half an hour today. Really is some action weather across there, but too much rain
