And here is a workbook with the "rain days" graphs for that station. In this case the threshold I am using is 1.0mm, not the 0.1mm NIWA has for that description.
Interesting that the years with the extreme values - 1956 (171) and 1950 (114) were both years with a strong La Nina influence.
