Well it definitly rainded this morning. I looked outside and thought is was drizzely isloted crap and the radar backed that up. So i decided to not take an umbrella for my walk to uni. WELL WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS!!!!!!!!! It was thick heavy drizzle (not big drops but thick average drops) that got my saturated in a couple of minutes.

Isn't it amazing how forecasters work?

A few days ago Saturday was 'rain developing' and Sunday 'rain at times', which changed to Saturday 'drizzle' and on Sunday 'some rain' the next day, which changed to 'rain or showers' for Sunday only the next day, and changed to just a few weekend showers yesterday. Now today there is no rain in the forecast for the next 5 days!

When will the dry spell end! It is unbelievable how long it is dragging on. :(

Looking as if we'll see some colder nights coming from about Monday or Tuesday. The lowest temp for the year is still only 9.9 degrees in early February. April 2005 got down to 3.8 here, April 2006 only had 8.3 due to high rainfall, April 2007 got down to 4.9. And to think, we are not having any cooler nights this autumn despite the low rainfall...

We will remember that quote in October and November except it will read
When will the wet spell end! It is unbelievable how long it is dragging on

People quite often say to me, "How long will the current drought last?" or, if it has been wet, "How long will this rain last?".
I usually say "Until it stops".

100% of the time I am absolutely correct :) =D>

We have had a 4 week dry spell with no rain whatsoever, about 15mm of rain a couple of days ago and now most likely nothing for ages again. :(

I think what is needed is more cooling....more cold air masses, to the cool the air down....colder air can not hold as much moisture...
i.e is been warmer than normal every month now for a long time...and this leading to reduced rain (except in the far north)...just my thoughts
(although the potential for lots of rain is there with a warmer climate...as long as there is a trigger (which you dont get when you have large anticlones all the time!)
i.e with global warming, the long dry spells might get worse

I have no intention of getting into an argument - but that "cooling for the last 8 years" claim has no demonstrable basis in fact. It is put about by "sceptic" sites and is challenged by many others. If you're talking about what has happened in the NZ region, it's simply a different issue.

The southerly 'change' came through here at 3:30pm . Nothing happened, apart from a bit of a wind gust, barometer went down :? Cloud prior to it now dissapated.
Still lovely and fine, with a slight SE.
However, there is a cirrussy line from the south moving north (photographed)

Flew down to Qtwn this morn , saw that line sitting just out to the west from the Aircraft, It's more active to the SW with a few TStorms currently I see.

Cold southerly arrived here about 3pm, partly cloudy skies.

Weak southerly change came through about 5pm. Nice high cloud plus some low cloud development. Nothing startling really, boring. :(

Yeah, it's been absolutely HOSING down here on and off for the past hour or so...like someone is turning a tap on and off...streets are wee bit flooded from the amount of water, but the radar doesn't seem to show anything???? :-k :-k ](*,) ](*,) Primarily a coastal thing?

Burwood weather station showing about 6.5 mm out of what we have had so far...

There's a very thin line of blue over the Amberley area on the 9pm radar, so it must of been very local, there Tony.
Nothing here, just a cloud cover now with a light SW blowing. :)

Vey heavy rain for about half an hour just before midnight in St Albans. Streets certainly flooded very quicky, most unexpected given the forecast was drizzle.
