Not so good for us of course. Yesterday was quite bright depite a poor forecast, but it's cloudy now after a few spots overnight. The SE can flatter to deceive.

I see Met Service are forecasting 8C for AK overnight. I am sceptical it will get that cold.

I'm not ruling out a low of 8 out this way tonight...currently about 14.5C and has been dropping at an average rate of 1.5 degrees for the last 2 hours. And with over 10 hours of mostly clear night skies left, should certainly go under 10 here (last night was 10.3). Yeah we'll have to wait and see, tomorrow night looks as if it could get quite nippy, I see MS have 3C tomorrow night for Hamilton, but 8C for Ak. If Auckland City gets down to 8 degrees, I'd expect about 6 degrees here after comparing readings for several years.

Already down to 7C in Chch - cloud cleared late afternoon. Could get down to frost level if cloud dpesn't return, as there's not much wind.

dewpoint is currently 13C... so there would have to be an extremely dry and cold air mass move in for that.

yes, Howick way tends to be cooler. I'm thinking it may get down to 8C in the rural environs of the SE but thats not Auckland. They should really forecast for central AK. I think the dp13C at the airport will disappear soon as the SE flow kicks back in.

Well, temperature ended up taking a dive sometime last night here....thermometer recorded a low of 7.0 degrees. I see eastern beach got down to 7.9 degrees also. Looking like a sunny day, after some cloud this morning.

The cloud did return, so it only dropped about another 2C overnight in Chch.
