Re: Anticyclone
This Anticyclone should slow the approach of a Tasman Low next week allowing for some good falls of rain hopefully over Auckland. Looks promising this far out.

Re: Anticyclone
I'm thinking tonight could be even colder than last night, not even 8pm and the temperature is down to 12 degrees. There is hardly any wind compared to last yesterday evening. Managed 7 here last night, I'm thinking about 9 degrees for the city tonight, maybe 6 degrees here.

Yeah. really goomy today and rather dark here in Christchurch and on the plains in some areas. Various drizzle/rain patches in very cumumlus skies.

Re: Anticyclone
Nice day in Auckland today. Looks like the high pressure will hanging over NZ to the end of the week. Not looking forward to the S'Wester tomorrow.
GFS suggests some unstable air over the upper and western North Island next weekend, thunderstorms possible around Sunday. Will depend on how much moisture comes down as the flow turns NE and a shallow trough approaches from the Tasman.

Re: Anticyclone
Beautiful crisp autumn day here in the Waikato... 2C to 17C and mostly clear, even just had a bit of suprising drizzle come up just now!
The rain forecast for this Sunday will be vital for April - will be the first in months to end up with above average rainfall.

Milder this morn with dewpoints up to 13C, currently 15C.
long range has some warm damp weather on the way which will be good news for our farmers, they need grass growth.

I like the sound of Sunday's forecast - "Heavy rain and strong northeasterlies, then showers"

Re: Anticyclone
Its the term 1 school holidays at the moment, so I don't really care about the timing of any rain (I don't mind rain on a weekend anyway!).Michael wrote:Why do you like it on a long weekend?
I'm hoping we'll see totals of at least 30mm here, would take April rain to about average (81mm MTD).
I wonder what are chances for a thunderstorm on Sunday are...

Re: Anticyclone
The weather has been very fine, here, this week with hardly a cloud in the sky.
....and the frosts haven't been that severe, also, we missed out on the winds what they got down south.
Sadly it's the last anticyclone for a while

Re: Anticyclone
Dry but cloudy in Chch this morning, but when I came out to Akaroa late this morning there were frequent drizzly showers, which only cleared up about midafternoon. Now just partly cloudy

Re: Anticyclone
It was a cloudy morning here with possibly some drizzle early this morning as there was 0.2mm in the raingauge and the decking was wet.
Sadly, this anticyclone is moving away and maybe the last one over us for a while.

You are my nemesis!
More of this weather please.
Rain for tomorrow has been pushed later for Wellington. We may get some nice spells early on.
