Some house-tremblers are already bowling through. This will strip the yellowing leaves off the deciduouses.

The squally southwest flow over the South Island is expected to strengthen this
afternoon. MetService expects the winds to rise to gale gusts 110 km/h in much
of Southland and eastern Otago this afternoon.

Forecasters warn that there could be gusts around 140 km/h in exposed places
coastal areas from about Nugget Point to Moeraki including higher parts of the
Otago Peninsula from late this afternoon to early Wednesday morning.

surprisingly we have got to 6mm of rain here in total today from beefy (at times) showers (and 30 knot winds)...lots of low level moisture....
but the showers have weakened alot as they moved further inland and further north....

Got down to 1C overnight at Hillmorton.
No gales on Banks Peninsula yesterday - wind was light in the morning and only freshened somewhat in the afternoon. (once the light showers had cleared)

Its been gusty all night, with a steady strong breeze between gusts. Not sure how its blowing out on the peninsular, or on the hilltops, but there's been nothing roof-lifting in North Dunedin.

Not glorious sw Bring back the "real" NWer The one where the stationary front lies over the top of the SI and a stationary high wont budge to the east of the NI.

Not 4 months - 5 months as far as I'm concerned. November was dry, settled and sunny overall, very much better than the typical November.
