11pm radar does show a lot of heavy rain headed for ChCh, even some heavy rain headed for temuka and timaru, which I was thinking was going to miss temuka a few minutes ago but now looking likely to hit.

Sea is starting to get a good roar going and thats about 5-10mins drive from here.
Some interesting hours ahead then. :bounce:

Sure is coming down heavy now, surface flooding evident in my backyard already.
Its also swung southerly now which is also why the rain has got heavier.

wind is still SE in Timaru, don't know about Temuka as I don't have a weather station yet... and don't know of any in my town so my closest readings I look at are in Timaru.

I don't think we are done...more to come from looking at the SAT and radar loops...only 21 mm in my part of town...32 mm out at SG's place in Templeton...looks like areas in Canty north of the Waimakariri got hit the hardest with this system so far...(those cumec readings from the Hurunui were scary...)

115mm here for the storm so far, very heavy between midnight and 3am with rain rates in excess of 20mm/hr. Extensive flooding and washouts on roads around here, paddocks 90% under water.
