Re: Wet Week for the South Island
11pm radar does show a lot of heavy rain headed for ChCh, even some heavy rain headed for temuka and timaru, which I was thinking was going to miss temuka a few minutes ago but now looking likely to hit.

hmmm that 1 in ten year reading is actaully at the Mandamus site, not the SH1 reading.. so not quite at the worst levels yet but still very high!melja wrote:Yes some big rain in north cant, me thinks a river or to is gona flood and the huruni is now at over 1000 cumics! and rivers like the ashley are coming up fast to.

Re: Wet Week for the South Island
Very steady here now edging on heavy, I can actually hear it on the roof now unlike before.
Sea is starting to get a good roar going and thats about 5-10mins drive from here.
Some interesting hours ahead then.
Cheers
Jason.

Re: Wet Week for the South Island
Sure is coming down heavy now, surface flooding evident in my backyard already.
Its also swung southerly now which is also why the rain has got heavier.
Cheers
Jason.

Re: Wet Week for the South Island
wind is still SE in Timaru, don't know about Temuka as I don't have a weather station yet... and don't know of any in my town so my closest readings I look at are in Timaru.

Re: Wet Week for the South Island
See areas in sefton flooded with people evacuated. Also SH1 from Parnasses to Blenheim closed!! due to flooding and debris on the road.

Re: Wet Week for the South Island
I don't think we are done...more to come from looking at the SAT and radar loops...only 21 mm in my part of town...32 mm out at SG's place in Templeton...looks like areas in Canty north of the Waimakariri got hit the hardest with this system so far...(those cumec readings from the Hurunui were scary...)MarkThomas wrote:where is the rain for chch. 21mm thats it?!?!!? its stopped already
