Theres settled snow about 3 to 4 cms deep on the ground around my house and presumeably further afield out there in the dark. I live about 40 m asl on the north-facing wall of North East Valley.

Quite heavy snow showers on ChCh hill suburbs. About 2 - 3 cm of snow up here over night. Roads are white but drivable with care. Looks like most roofs in ChCh are white when the weather clears and I can see them.

Definately no show stopper on the Peninsula although you could climb 400metres to the top and look down onto the snow in the city. But thats the micro climate we have here. Certainly the hill suburbs seem to well covered.
Ill see if i can get some photos from friends in the city.

Its looks very pretty, the sun has poked its head through and the hills and the lawns look real pretty with the sun shining on the snow, cannot complain about this winter, three decent snow falls right to sea level.

Looks like some shower cloud to the south east coming from around tai tapu and hitting the cashmere region soon, very coastal looking. Here in halswell, in the very south of CHCH i cant see any shower clouds either at the moment striking here. However, is looking little black out there now.
