Re: Yet...another cold Weekend
Yes, 5.8 degrees here in Halswell with a 3km/h easterly at the moment. Waiting for the NWester to kick in. 978hpa here at the moment. Lowest its been in quite some time. Im not sure we are going to get anything on monday or tuesday, maybe just some cold showers. GFS models are right down and have been consistently. See snow to 200m in the nelson region today. Havent seen snow forecast that low for as long as i can remember.
11am models have just came through and showing around 8mm sunday-mon-tues with temps around 0-2 degrees so definately looking like sleet and maybe snow to sea level. Just wont be much

Re: Yet...another cold Weekend
Sounds like the passes have had a fair big dumping with more on the way if not falling now, looked very impressive on the news tonight.
It should be another calm night tomorrow night, dont understand why MS is saying showers and cold southerlies from the evening as it shouldnt be here until Sunday evening atleast.
Otherwise at this stage from Sunday evening until early tuesday sure looks like a simular wintry scene to last weekend except maybe abit more omphh on Monday morning for awhile.
Starting to look rather interesting down south on the latest radar i would say you are about to get some snow tidd66, thats the best radar run ive seen down there for awhile.
Cheers
Jason.

Tidd 66. Snowing in gore yet? Cant be far off. 9pm reports show 1 degree with 2mm in last hour so must be sleet with more snow than sleet at min, if not snow now? Yes the band does Look quite nice down that way now.

Another nice coating of snow on the Dunedin hills and hill suburbs.

Re: Yet...another cold Weekend
Woke up to no snow on the ground in Gore it is down to about 400m on the hills. I think the ground is to wet now for it to settle if it does get cold again.

Re: Yet...another cold Weekend
Far out there was some torrential rain here in haimlton during the night. Torrential at 1am then really havy at 3am and then heavy about 6am. Glad the test wasnt on last night. Would have had rain fade with rain like that.

Re: Yet...another cold Weekend
It's more to do with temperature ie. wet snow or dry snow falling. Dry snow will quickly settle on wet ground.I think the groung is to wet now for it to settle if it does get cold again.

Re: Yet...another cold Weekend
Those photos i posted were of this morning's hail storm. Sounded like somebody dumping a quarry load of metal on the roofs as it was coming over. And it still hasn't completely thawed out yet.

Re: Yet...another cold Weekend
Looking at the models I cant help thinking that the worst may be yet to come ,these lows are quite complex, just got a strange feeling that things look calm but not sure if things are. I am still seeing low level snow to Canterbury, and more heavy snow for the alps. Its just when the lows move away.Monday seems quite servere.Any one with any feed back or is it me?
