Well, will need to eat my words here >_< ;P ...in addition to the rakaia "blip" on the 9pm radar pic, check out the bands coming in from the SE of BP...they coincide with the sat loops and look to be building...will need to watch the 10pm radar pic to see...they will be brief, but likely snow as well...

There goes another sleet shower with some flakes gone through also one big gust to near gale force.
Chain showers channeling north through a certain pathway perhaps as we have seen in previous blasts.
Cheers

Forecast for Wellington city today was completely wrong. Southerly showers did not occur from dawn, it was fine though cool throughout the daylight hours and showers didn't arrive until 6.30pm.

I just got back from the dyers pass road port hills and 20 min snow shower up there with big flakes and heavy falls :DD It was wicked as! 2cm settled on the ground and tyre marks very evident due to it settling on the ground. Showers are much more frequent too up there!!

down to 2.2 degrees and shower activity makes that plunge so expect snow flurries overnight!

Look at 11pm radar, its moving closer to land and coming together, could be good!!

Yes just had some flakes thrown into a shower then, by the looks of the midnight radar we are about to get the best from this system.
So for those who are up here comes the brief snow we have been all waiting for  .
Cheers

Morning Everyone, been up since 5am, went driving for the last hour. Dyers pass is shut. Gets very heavy the snow half way up hackthorne road so i turned back. We have a nice bit or precipitation on rain radar stuck on us for last couple hours. Westmorland and Cashmere Heaviest snow around city from what i saw. Heavy on and off snow showers here in Halswell :D.

still snowing here but the ground is wet and slushy,we still have a reasonable covering though,im just wondering if with these 4 falls weve had this winter if the weather is building up for a big snow fall in canterbury.
