I guess so - not Coromandel Peninsula I presume. I don't think this week's icy blast brought snow that far north. (unlike the early July event)

Snow will most likly be at higher levels during the Sunday,Monday system around 600-700m but early Wednesday morning shows some very low level snow going by the latest GFS and metrograms.
I also see MSLP likes to put another big hit of moisture over Otago on Thursday and just so happens to be pulling up the very cold air and again this could work its way northwards too.
So perhaps extend the date out until the 29th there Gopolks.
Cheers
Jason.

yes i agree, might of been a bit early saying snow possible in canterbury as I too have noticed that model changes lots, that's the 2nd time it's changed from a low level this week although it could change again i'm not seeing as much of a chance of snow in canterbury now

I think the tendancy after this last lot of wet weekend scenarios is for some anticyclonic conditions.
Possibly hitting the 1040hPa mark, or well into the thirties at least? :g:

The latest ECMWF has the low abit further north, so less rain for Canterbury Sunday/Monday. Hopefully that scenario eventuates, though I can't see us escaping the rain.

Lots of rain coming, by the latest runnings...just what we need :| :| ....on the plus side, the LR models don't show much at all, so hopefully a good drying out period and Spring finally making its presence known... \:D/

Hi every one. I don't see it snowing very much, it's nice and warm here the passed days. We have rain and some thunder here but. About the snow this year has been good for the number of snow falls but the amount has not been any thing special. Well it is more than we have had since the 90s but it is still not much comared to what we used to get before the 1990s.

yes, far too warm. infact coldest it looks like getting is 8 degrees. One thing that looks for sure is heavy rain and lots of it from late sunday and not easing to early wednesday. GFS showing 55mm for this run and we are getting very close to the event. Id say good dumping for mt hutt, infact i think earlier today i saw 62cm forecast there sunday alone!

Could Mt Hutt be in for another metre dumping? Certainly looks possible.
