The rain shadow affect of Banks Peninsula is clear to see on this morning's radar images. Still raining steadily here, heading towards 100mm now.

Not much on the peninsula, either - only drizzly today. 14mm since my last post, about 8pm last night.

Just got back from Amberley about an hour ago and still steady rain falling. The paddocks from waimakariri north are just water logged and look like rivers of their own. There is one really unbeliavable paddock area of about 5 or 6 fields that the water i would say is stomach height and its so close to the road. Amazing just how much water is there. Still not recorded any rain here today. Looks like something brewing in the south tasman sea once again from monday/tuesday after....early days but not looking to good again...Its just starting to rain here now actually as i speak.

Stomach height is that before of after you have swallowed a gallon of paddack water .
Back to steady rain again this morning but drizzle currently and 47mm.
Might have to check the next high tide especially as the Kaiapoi river did just tip its banks again last night.
Poor old Lineside rd was just about all dried up but i would say the lakes district has returned there by now with its fellow friendly ducks.

yes more drizzle like patches today, had a small period of rain in central city this morning but other then that nothing more.. as jasestrm said might be a Pearla of a storm season coming with all that moisture in the ground!
