New Zealand weather in 1870

Found some weather observations for 1870! :wave:
Not sure what the accuracy of the meteorological instruments would have been back then.

Very interesting of the reports about aurora seen in the north several times!

Thanks for those links. The technology for measuring temperature/rainfall accurately was well developed by 1870. Looking at Aucklands readings, looks like a mild winter and a coolish summer by todays standards. Interestingly the mean temp for that year was about the same as what we get these days.
