Beautiful down here. A thin cloudlayer until the early hours, then it cleared and has stayed that way ever since. 30.4 in the shade yesterday, but there's a coolish NW breeze today which'll take the edge off.Michael wrote:Quite awful today Could tell this last night the cloud was going to roll in as the stars were exceptionally clear last night

An interestingly boring day, if there's such a thing, in Christchurch today.
It was SW for much of the morning with lovely fine weather but from noon it has been more northerly here with with the wind between NE and NW.
To the south of the city and over the airport it has remained SW.
It is cloudy now with the sky at 8/8 which has taken much of the afternoon for it to do so.
Overall it has been a pleasant day temperature wise. I got up to 26C.
I don't know what the official was on the telly

We hit 29.5 in the shade today (and 30.4 yesterday) in Omarama, yet I half expect to hear the TV weather people tell us it snowed. I think they must draw their daily readings from a hat (or some other place...). Not even close.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:I got up to 26C.

And yes, our sensors are in Stevenson screens and carefully calibrated, but they might as well be encased in a block of cement for all anybody in Auckland or Wellington is concerned.

SouthWesterly brings good weather to Auckland this time of the year but Western parts of the City can stay a little cool while Eastern parts warm up as a SouthWesterly breeze keeps out the Easterly sea breeze. Our horrid weather at this time of the year usually comes on a North easterly associated with a low coming down from the North.
