It was a breezy Westerly wind here this morning not strong just a very light breeze.
Now its NE with CU clouds bubbling away not just inland either, so definatly SW up top.
Maybe some isolated showers in a few hours perhaps, and warm indeed it is 23C here great weather for the lunch time BBQ.
Cheers

This and the last 2 Saturdays have been wonderful and warm (last 2 were windy but when it died out they were good), compared to a winter full of rainy Saturdays! Its great.

It was a warm day here with a light westerly but from 4pm a cool ESE 'kicked in' and cooled things down a bit.
The warmthness of the days are really depending on the location of the anticyclones as they move eastward across the Tasman Sea. Today's warmth was caused by a slow movement of the westerly under blue dome skies and to help matters, the surface barometric pressure being up to 1020hPa. This being before the front moved across around 4pm.

Yes i have seen a few model runs showing a reasonable change coming through either Thursday or Friday although the latest has pulled back abit on rainfall totals.
Again provides an oppertunity for thunderstorms :p .
But there should be some more rather warm days coming for Tuesday,Wednesday with the NW flow pushing the temperatures into the mid 20's again with another ridged flow.
Another great day today under blue dome skies although a more cooler and fresh NE onshore wind, also some CU building inland for the afternoon and evening.
Its actually becoming a common occurance as of the last few weeks seeing unstable skies, not often we see that on high occurance in October from my memory 0_o .
Cheers

i think its more of a easterly troughy type conditions around auckland today ;-)
(i.e a layer of instability there, and surface winds stronger than winds above)

A few cloud build ups south of the City but they are not producing showers. A fresh NE breeze today and quite warm, dewpoints around 12C. There have been Thunderstorms inland from Mt Taranaki this afternoon.

yes, a couple of weak showers today around AK. The weak upper trough across the North Island/wind convergence has yeilded a few weak thunderstorms over the ranges over the central NI this afternoon and Mt Taranaki/Waitomo.

More pronounced trough later this week culd have some TS chances. May be worth a thread in a day or two.

Lovely day here in Christchurch again with a very very light northerly if you can even call it that and sitting on 23.6 degrees at the moment. Well and truly exceeded the high forecast for today. Tomorrow looking to be even warmer! Got the hose on the front lawn things are in need of water now.

some interesting convection going on today in auckland, not sure if itll produce anything tho. some definitely powerful updrafts tho, a result of the good heating we have had.

currently watching an updraft condense and spread out at its top.

Yes that is Cu runing into a stable layer and spreading out hence one reason for so much cloud cover today. There is the odd larger Cu build up around. Radar shows some shower clouds have developed along the west coast of Northland/Auckland, quite a heavy looking shower near Pukekohe currently.

Another warm day today very far off from the predicted 18C, it was 21C at 10am with a very light NE wind then rounding the afternoon off with a 26C maximum under a breezy NWer.
Very simular temperatures tomorrow i would think although there might be abit more high cloud about.
Saturday looks rather promising for thunderstorms at the moment alot of models seem to be adding up, lets hope they stay that way  .
Cheers

I'm afraid that is a matter of opinion, influenced by the reaction ones nasal passages have to said pollen (and to some extent, your loved ones reactions).

Sadly every year it seems to affect me worse.

They were theorising today that as a result of the vararoa bee mite, the bee numbers have been dramatically reduced, to ensure fertilization the flowers are producing more pollen.

Personally I think I'm just getting old ;)

Good thing I'm no longer flying over forests in the helicopter stirring up the horrible stuff.

Definitely getting warmer, great being able to get stuff done in the evening again.

Well done Jason ;) very similar start to the day today except for a little more high cloud around today, not too much. Currently just below 20 degrees at 19.7 degrees at the moment at 10am. Metservice saying a high of 23 degrees today. I would say they are going to be a lot closer today than yesterday. Its a northeasterly, it was more northerly here yesterday so i would say slightly cooler than yesterday, thats provided the wind doesnt change more Northerly. Thhere is hardly a breeze anyways. However, the light winds this morning will no doubt freshen from some direction this afternoon as they did yesterday. Tomorrow looking to be in the 20's as well but a lot more cloud around tomorrow with a chance of rain from the west and then souitherlies dominating fri - sunday it seems. However, i dont think things are looking as wet as they were a day or two ago for the end of this week.

Another warm start to the day this morning reaching 23.6 degrees. At 340pm at Jeffs it was 18.8 degrees than the southerly came through and dropped it to 13.4 degrees. It droped therefore 5.4 degrees in the space of 10 mins!!! However, looking at the rain radar most of it had passed us inland and a lot of another rain band is out to sea. Nothing appears to be to the south even although it is rather overcast with variable low and higher cloud. Im hoping its a dry southerly change or at least holds off till after dark since i have cricket training. Saturday seems to be pulling back in terms of rainfall from all models and forecasts each time i look at it so thats even better!! I hope its fine Saturday. Just occassional light showers forecast now ;)
